Karen Jeffrey
Artist member since 2021
Markham, Ontario
Karen is an abstract artist working in cold wax, and oil. She currently lives in Markham, Ontario, with her two teenage sons and two rescued Boston/Pugs. She’s an OCAD graduate and an accomplished Pastry Chef. Karen infuses her artwork with a lively sense of energy and atmosphere. She loves the wonderful sense of exploration and play she receives as the layers are being pushed back and forth allowing the colours underneath to guide the top layers and expose what intuitively feels right. Her paintings are a unique combination of abstraction and recognizable landscape, and this balance allows each viewer to bring their own memories and experiences to the piece. These are places you’ve been before. Her work can currently be seen in Galleries across Ontario and in numerous private collections in Canada, United States and Spain.
Q+A
Why is it important for people to have art in their home or life?
Whether it’s a memory or a feeling, a piece of art can evoke powerful emotions when we look at it. Art can cheer us up after a bad day, make us remember, or inspire us to do more in life. It can provide comfort that we are not the only ones feeling a certain way.
